Hawaii Foreign Mail to 1870 Gregory, Fred. Explore early Hawaii history and postal history with Hawaii Foreign Mail to 1870 — a boxed set of three hardcover volumes. Generous color illustrations and clear, compelling copy on 1,233 golden-edge pages bring the era to life, making each volume entertaining to read. You’ll also gain a broad understanding of the pioneer stampless covers to or from fur and sandalwood traders, whalers and missionaries, the use of Hawaii and United States postage stamps on Hawaii mail and the postage rates and markings to 1870. Maps and cover illustrations detail the ocean and transcontinental routes Hawaii mail traveled with other mail to and from the Pacific Basin. A comprehensive 1800-70 list of vessels going between Hawaii and the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia is included as an appendix, making this an invaluable resource for determining authenticity on postal history of the period. .
